Staying fit and healthy in college can be a challenging task. Your studies would always keep you busy considering the academic requirements you have to meet. You would have some chance to socialize through organizations as you meet new people and make friends in school.

But with your busy schedule, will you still have time to stay fit and healthy? Yes, you can!

1.       Eat healthy. The first step to attaining a healthy body is to eat healthy foods regularly. As much as possible, break the habit of eating too much junk food, soda, and sweets as these processed foods are bad for your health. Eating foods rich in natural sugars such as fruits will help fuel your brain and will give you all the energy you need to survive the day. In your meal plan, choose to eat fruits, vegetables, lean meat, and whole grains. You can also avoid overeating by taking in more fruits and veggies so you can maintain a healthier weight.

2.       Keep exercise a daily habit. Sure, you may get busy in college but make it a point to spend at least 15-30 minutes of your time to exercise. You can opt to take a jog early in the morning or enjoy brisk walking in late afternoons after your classes. Regular exercise is not just good for the body, it also helps relieve stress.

3.       Engage in sports. Another tip to stay healthy in college is to engage in sports. You can join the swimming team, or other activities like basketball, football, badminton, or track and field. If you’re into martial arts why not try karate or taekwondo? Aside from sports, you can also participate in dance classes to keep your body active. Since sports are a social activity, you can definitely have a fun time with friends and colleagues.

4.       Get enough sleep. Make sure that you get enough sleep. At least eight hours of sleep is needed by the body. Getting enough sleep will help boost your body’s immune system against diseases since you are well rested and revitalized so start the day.

5.       Drink plenty of water. Make it a habit to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Drinking enough water will keep you sharper and more alert. Plus, it will help flush out toxins in your body.

As you can see, there are some great ways to stay healthy during your college years.
