De La Hoya lost both of his fights to Shane Mosley, however either one could have been awarded to him. He destroyed Fernando Vargas in a grudge match and eventually he moved all the way up to middleweight to challenge the undisputed middleweight champion Bernard Hopkins.

After the Hopkins fought, as Oscar was beginning to get older he started taking fewer fights. He looked impressive in beating the likes of Ricardo Mayorga and Steve Forbes. However, he lost to the pound for pound champion Floyd Mayweather and then suffered a devastating stoppage lost against the next pound for pound champion Manny Pacquiao.

In losing to Pacquiao, Oscar finally decided that enough was enough and he was no longer the fighter he used to be. But oh how great he once was!

Few people can ever say they had the kind of career that Oscar De La Hoya had, and that’s why boxing memorabilia from him is so popular. He is a legend both in and out of the boxing ring, and has done much to help the communities where he was from and people in need from both the United States and from Mexico.
